INTRODUCTION

This  temporary website is in the process of being setup to share  work in the fields of Biblical, Islamic and Bābī-Bahā'ī Studies. Many of the text files posted here as written with Unicode  fonts, Arial Unicode MS font (51,160 glyphs and 23Mb) which exist within Microsoft’s operating systems including Windows XP / Vista etc as well as versions of Office 2000/03/4/07 and FrontPage 2000-3 onwards. Arial Unicode MS (or another comprehensive Unicode) font should be added to the non-XP/Vista  Windows font directory to make visible the academic transliteration used on this Website. Numerous Unicode fonts include  many or all the characters used in the expression and transliteration of Arabic, Persian and the biblical languages (Hebrew, Aramaic, Greek) as well as that of key scriptural languages of major world religions. For the academic transliteration used here the Unicode font should contain: Basic Latin; Latin-1; Latin Extended-A; Latin Extended-B and Latin extended Additional. For Arabic and Persian and certain of the scriptural languages (Hebrew and Greek, etc) this Website makes use of an expanded Unicode version of Times New Roman.

Provisional translations of Bābī-Bahā'ī primary sources in  Persian and Arabic dating from 1978 until today will be selectively set forth here as will translations of various Islamic, Shi`i , Shaykhī and related texts. In this connection I would be delighted to receive critical suggestions for improvement, preferably communicated by email to  my UK + USA  address = slambden@ucmerced.edu

In addition to the Web publishing of revised versions of portions of my work, the now 25 year old periodical Bahā'ī Studies Bulletin (BSB)  will be partially revised and (re-) published here :   http://www.hurqalya.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/BSB-WEBr/BSB%20COVER%20PAGE.htm

By summer 2010  this will be superseded by a renned on-line periodical entitled Syzygy: A Journal of Bābī-Bahā'ī Studies   (UC-Merced + Newcastle upon Tyne: Hurqalya Publications). This journal will initially be an on-line periodical but may also, in due course, be fully printed in hard copy.

Most of the academic papers, translations  and files on this Website are in constant states of revision and correction pending their upgrading by 2010  to a more polished PDF oriented website.
