The Bābī-Bahā`ī  Religions and the Messianic Roots of Globalization

Stephen N. Lambden

In this paper it will be argued that there are scriptures within the major world religions which anticipate and sometimes celebrate, in a partially realized eschatological fashion, a future global oneness of religion and humankind.  Evidence for this will be presented as will the roots of messianic globalism in the Bābī religion and its development with Bahā`ī. The universal address in perocipes of the Sūrat al-mulk (Surah of the Dominion) in the Qayyūm al-asmā'  ("lit. "Self-Susisting [Deity] of the Divine Names")  and other  Bābī texts will be discussed in the light of early Shī`ī messianism and Bābī-Bahā`ī globalism.
