[I]

In the Name of God, the Exalted, the Most Exalted.

[1]

O Most Exalted Pen!

Joyfulness failed to take hold of Thee during those Days of Thy Lord, the Exalted, the Most Exalted

for thereon Thou didst cry out upon the twigs of the Lote-Tree of the Extremity (sidrat al-muntahā) with the melodies of Bahā'.

[2]

This even though that Mighty Calamity (al-muṣībat al-`uẓma)  did seize Thee whereupon a fearful cry

was noised betwixt earth and heaven.

[3]

Then recall that which befell Thee  according to the   dictates of the Divine Decree, that tear drops might flow down within

the Abyss of the Divine Names over this Calamity  which caused Riḍwān of       to shake with agitation
