Some Tablets of Bahā'-Allāh

 to

 Persian Jews

In progress 2006

Bahā'-Allāh wrote hundreds if not thousands of scriptural Tablets to Jews in both Arabic and Persian as did his son `Abd al-Baha' (d. 1921). These texts very largely date from the time of the Persian Jewish conversions to the Baha'i religion in the 1870s and 1880s.  While there seem  to have been very few sporadic Jewish conversions to Bābism during the lifetime of the Bāb and in the decade or so following his martyrdom (July 9th 1850), most notably in the Persian province of Khurasan (Turbati Haydari, Mashad, etc), it was not until Bahā'ī missionaries began to teach Jews in Iran and Iraq from around the time of Baha'-Allah's declaration in the early -mid. 1860s, that Middle Eastern Jews began to be addressed in weighty Tablets (alwāḥ) by the founder of the Baha'i religion. He lovingly called them to service and faith within the inclusive Bahā'ī religious universe of discourse which presupposed a full acceptance of all the major Abrahamic religions (Judaism, Christianity and Islam as well as the religion of the Bab).

 The Ṣaḥīfat Allāh of Bahā'-Allāh

addressed to various Jews of Hamadan

The Ṣaḥīfat Allāh  is a lengthy Tablet of Bahā'-Allāh w2hich seems to have been addressed to a large number of Jewish converts to the Baha'i religion resident in Hamadan (Persia/Iran). It contains a number of addresses to humanity in general and is centered upon a series of addresses to a large number of Jewish converts to the Baha'i Faith individually and collectively.

The Ṣaḥīfat Allāh

(The Scroll of God)

of

Mīrzā Ḥusayn `Alī Nūrī, Bahā'-Allāh

[0]

This is the  Ṣaḥīfat Allāh (The Scroll of God), the Help in Peril, the Self-Subsisting.

It was revealed for the children [progeny] of the Friend [Ibrahim] (anbā' al-khalīl) and the legacy of the Speaker [Moses] (wārith al-kalim)

on the part of One Mighty, Beautiful.

In My Name, the Help in Peril,  through the Kingdom of Exposition

[2]

This is a Book revealed from the heaven of the divine Will of the All-Merciful, unto whomsoever is within Existence to the end that He might

bring them solace  in God, the Lord of all the worlds.

[3]

This is the Day in which the Light hath risen brilliantly  in view of the fact that the Speaker on the Mount (Sinai) (mukallim al-ṭūr)

hath settled down upon Throne of the Divine Theophany (`arsh al-ẓuhūr) and cries out before all  human countenances to the effect that  earthly dominion

now belongs to God (al-mulk li-lāhī ), the Mighty, the One Praised.

[4]

This indeed is the Day about which the [Sinaitic] Speaker (Moses) gave glad-tidings as well as the Spirit (of God, al-rūḥ, Jesus) and after him

Muhammad, the Messenger of God, of the One who has come from the Dawning-Place of the divine Command

(mashriq al-amr) with manifest sovereignty (= Bahā'-Allāh).
